Meet Ken
Ken
was born in Charlottesville, Virginia and grew up in Orange, Virginia where
he lived his entire life before moving to Florida in August of 2003. Growing
up in Orange was great, a wonderful small town with lots of interesting
people. From an early age Ken was interested in local history especially
that of James Madison after whom he was named.
After
attending Virginia Wesleyan College, Ken joined the staff of James Madison's
home, Montpelier, where he did a bit of everything from driving a bus to
giving guided tours of the mansion. That job led to working at the Orange
County Historical Society where he eventually became the organization's
Administrator. He also worked for 10 years at the Virginia Transportation
Research Council.
Ken's
interest in James Madison never left him so he became involved with the
James Madison Museum a small local museum with one of the most outstanding
Madison collections in the country. Shortly after becoming a volunteer, he
was asked to join the Board of Directors and within a few months was made
President of the Board. Under Ken's leadership the Museum started to make
the transformation from a small local museum to a better managed, more
professional organization with record visitation.
After
visiting Las Vegas with friends in January of 2003, Ken felt the need to
make a major change in his life. So off he moved to Florida in August of
that year.
Ken also designs and maintains
many web sites and enjoys chatting with online friends from all over the
world.
